GIANNINI arrived in race with the will to stop the Abarth'supremacy. Only present in the italians circuits, Giannini knew very interesting beginings. In 1967, The Polverelli familly gave Giannini a new sporting vocation. Like that, the first Fiat 500 involved in race was the 590 GT Vallelunga of Luciano Galluzo in the "Trofeo Nazionale Turismo 600 cm3".

The arrival of Giannini in competition gave more spectacle and the level increased. Pilots made all efforts possible to place their cars in the first places. So, Abarth and Giannini fighted very hard to increase without limit speed and road-holding qualities.

More, with the time, probation of new materials or new technologies make evoluate races. For example, we can note the probation of new iron rods in 69, new radial artil in 71or injection in 72. Race motors can reach now 65 HP !

Some Giannini cars aren't owned by pilots of the "Casa Romana". They are independent pilots who took original Fiat 500 and put a Giannini kit according the races.

Giannini knew a real success in Italy as far as 1976. The end of production of the Fiat 500 in 1975 decreased the power of Giannini in race. The little sister, the Fiat 126 never knew this reputation and the pilots's passion.
